Construction Cleanup Laborer


Location: Greater New Orleans, LA -- Full-time, field-based position requiring travel between project sites.

Dixie Construction, LLC renovates, restores, remodels, and builds custom homes and businesses throughout Greater New Orleans. Clean, safe, and well-organized project sites are essential to delivering the quality experience our clients expect. We are seeking a reliable Construction Cleanup Laborer who notices the details, takes initiative, and helps our crews remain productive.


The Construction Cleanup Laborer will travel between active project sites to remove debris, organize work areas, and help maintain clean and professional job sites. This position includes driving a company truck and may involve transporting tools, materials, or supplies. The ideal candidate is dependable, physically capable, attentive to detail, and comfortable working independently throughout the day.


Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and organize active residential construction and renovation sites.
  • Remove construction debris, discarded materials, packaging, and general waste.
  • Sweep, vacuum, and prepare work areas for the next stage of construction.
  • Load, transport, and properly dispose of debris.
  • Drive a company truck between project sites and disposal locations.
  • Pick up and deliver tools, materials, or supplies when assigned.
  • Keep walkways and work areas clear to support a safe job site.
  • Protect finished surfaces and surrounding property during cleanup activities.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, property damage, or job-site concerns.
  • Assist carpenters, project managers, and other field personnel with general labor tasks.
  • Maintain the company vehicle and assigned equipment in clean, working condition.
  • Follow company instructions, job-site rules, and applicable safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of construction, labor, property-maintenance, or professional cleanup experience is preferred.
  • Previous construction-site cleanup experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record that meets company insurance requirements. 
  • Ability to drive a company truck safely.
  • Reliable transportation to the designated starting location.
  • Ability to communicate effectively regarding work instructions, driving directions, and job-site safety. 
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to complete tasks thoroughly.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple project locations.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform repeated bending, standing, walking, and lifting during the workday. 
  • Dependable attendance and a positive, cooperative attitude.
  • Calm, respectful, and professional behavior on occupied residential properties.

Pay and Benefits

  • Independent contractor (1099); ongoing project-based work, with workload varying by project needs. 
  • Pay: $20 - $25 per hour, based on experience.
  • Weekly pay.
  • Company truck and fuel provided for assigned work activities. 
  • No traditional employee benefits are currently offered for this position.
